The Ukrainian National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office have revealed the scandal in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
It has accepted 733 million hryvien (PLN 67.2 million ed.) when purchasing food for the Ukrainian military between 2022 and 2023.

Ukrainian media reports among the suspects that, among others, there is one head of state in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense department, as well as the owner and two managers of the companies that provided these products.
During the course of the research, between 2022 and 2023, the purchase of so-called food plots retained the food supply of the Ukrainian military, and the cost of the set was determined based on the average price of all products in the catalog.

“This allowed suppliers to manipulate prices. They exaggerated them for popular products, and became modest when small quantities or when ordering due to the seasonality of delivery. This made it seemingly impossible to do so because the price of the set was the same. Penny” – read.
As a result, this led to a situation in which two food suppliers belonging to one owner received over 733 million Hryvnia surplus. According to investigators, some of these funds were derived under the guise of paying dividends and financial support to affiliates. This money was then used to buy hotels in Croatia and other properties.

Investigators believe the crime is possible thanks to Ministry of Defense officials who “didn’t notice” the unusual prices of some products in the catalog during the end of the contract.
“The Truth About Ukraine” reminds us that after the initiation of preparatory procedures in January 2023 and the publication of cases in the media, including the purchase of 17 Hryvnia eggs per item, the suspects prevented further embezzlement of the Hryvnia budget fund of 1.188 billion.
