The Ukrainian president calls for the creation of a “European Army”
Ukrainian President Vodymil Zelansky revealed the idea of creating a joint European army with the participation of the Ukrainian army. He said that the period of time he could rely primarily on the US is already in the past. – Many leaders said Europe needed their own troops, the European army. I think I came this time. We must create a European army – he said in Munich.
– It’s not just about increasing defence spending in relation to GDP. Yes, you need money – but the money itself does not stop hostile attacks. People and weapons are not free, but again, it’s not just a budget. The point is that people recognize the need to protect their homes – he explained his idea from Zelsky.
He said that European troops cannot stop Russia’s potential attacks without the help of Ukrainian forces. According to the Ukrainian president, only his country’s military currently has “realistic and modern combat experiences” in the region.
-We need what you can offer us: weapons, education, training, sanctions, funding, political pressure, unity – he calculated at Saturday’s meeting in Munich.
