Warmer weather across Northern California to start the week

It's September. We're going to have to endure the summer heat for a few more days. In fact, it's going to have an impact. I'm going to give you a seven-day weather forecast from now, but what you want to know when you go out is that it feels nice outside. This is the current temperature in downtown Sacramento. It's 59 degrees right now. If you're joining us from Stockton, it's 59 degrees. Good morning, Modesto. This is an area of the Valley where it's in the low 60s. The skies in Lake Tahoe are 33 degrees right now and mostly sunny. So let's take a little look back at what we've seen over the month of August. Of course, August started off hot the first weekend and in the 70s the last weekend. We had some football on Friday night at all the football fields in the area. It felt like fall, didn't it? 78 degrees. We had some rain in the area on Saturday as well, and it officially hit 88 degrees yesterday. Well, today the temperatures are trending up again. In fact, we expect highs in the Valley to hit the mid 90s today with mostly sunny skies. Dropping to the low 80s around 9 tonight. That's just how summer feels. In the Foothills, sunny skies in the low 80s around 3pm. Dropping to the low 70s tonight with mostly sunny skies at night. In the Sierras, after a chilly morning, we'll see some drops to the low 50s to low 30s, and in South Lake Tahoe and around Homewood, and even around Truckee, we'll see some ups and downs to the mid 70s. It's going to be a comfortable day at 75 degrees Fahrenheit for the rest of the day. And as the forecast goes on, the big trigger for this heat is an area of high pressure that's going to continue to expand through Tuesday through Wednesday and into Thursday. It's kind of like camping here in Northern California. The pressure's not going to move a lot, so the weather forecast is pretty stationary for the most part, sunny skies with very little marine layer along the coast and very little delta winds. So, Tuesday and Wednesday we'll see temperatures rise to 100-101. Then as we get into Thursday, we'll see a slight drop in the daytime highs. But not a huge change. We'll see 98 on Thursday and 97 on Friday. Really? We'll have to wait until the holiday weekend, which of course is Labor Day on Monday. I think the temperatures will start to drop slowly but surely. By Sunday we'll be in the upper 80s. Hopefully we can stay in the 80s through Labor Day. Change is coming, but the change we're experiencing right now is the heat. Good. Good. Good. Good. Good.
