Source: TVN24 The president of the capital, Rafal Trzaszkowski, together with the former president of Poland, Lech Walesa, celebrated the 43rd anniversary of the introduction of martial law by laying flowers in front of the Grzegorz Przemyk memorial plaque. the grave of the priest Jerzy Popieluszko. On the occasion of the meeting, Lech Wałęsa announced that he supports Rafal Trzaszkowski as a candidate for the 2025 presidential election.
The memorial plaque of Grzegorz Przemyk is located in the old town, in the building 1/3 of Jezuicka street, where in the 80s there was a civilian police station. On Friday afternoon, the former president of Poland Lech Walesa and the mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski, visited this place together on the occasion of the anniversary of the introduction of martial law.

– We are in a place where they remember the issue of dying for our freedom. Not long ago, we visited the grave of father Popielushko. And I remembered his funeral. Then I received an ultimatum. Either I will deliver the prepared text or I will not be given the right to vote. I delivered this text but added two sentences: Solidarity lives and will win because you gave your life for it. And so it happened, Walesa recalled.
– We must remember these crimes, respect them and set an example, emphasized Valensa. – But again people came to power who quarreled with us and took advantage of these situations and even these crimes. I hope that this time we will choose worthy people and return to those events and pay respect and honor to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, – addressed the former president.

As part of the celebration, the mayor of the capital laid a wreath on Friday morning in front of the historical headquarters of NSZZ “Solidarność” of the Mazovia region at 16/20 Mokotovsky Street. It was there that some of the first arrests were made during martial law.

Walesa about supporting Trzaskovsky in the presidential elections
Journalists asked Lech Walesa about the official support of Rafal Trzaskovsky as a candidate for the 2025 presidential election. – Today he is the best candidate. Anyone who is smart and wants to return to those respects and victories should choose Mr. (Trzaskovskiy – ed.) president – he admitted.

The 43rd anniversary of the introduction of martial law
43 years ago, on December 13, 1981, General Voyseh Jaruzelsky announced the introduction of martial law. He referred to the decree of the State Council. Jurists and historians determined that this decree is illegal even according to the law of the People's Republic of Poland.
