Activists set up a blockade in front of the Vysłostrada tunnel. Several drivers began to chase away the protesters, some of whom had their banners torn. Some drivers tried to circumvent the blockade by driving on the curb.
A huge traffic jam occurred there. Police patrols also appeared.
The collision between the driver and the activist was reported by a Polsat News reporter.
Warsaw. The last generation blocked Visłostrada. police take away activists
Activists sat holding banners on the other side of the tunnel. Police officers arrived on the scene. Then several drivers got out of their cars and started clapping.
Police used megaphones to call on activists to get off the road. Police then began taking away activists who were still blocking the road.
However, some of the activists stuck their hands on the road, and police were unable to quickly remove them. Police used a special substance to release the glue.
The last generation of protest. Heavy traffic jam in Visłostrada
– Let them leave one more belt, they are not the most important. For example, there is a sick person in the car and he has to go home to take his medicine. In a traffic jam like this, anything can happen to anyone, one of the drivers told a Polsat News reporter.
– We are here because all other less controversial methods have failed. All kinds of legal protests, picketing, awareness-raising, and dialogue with politicians and decision-makers have failed. We understand the feelings of those stuck in today's traffic jams, but we are also here for their benefit, explained one of the activists blocking the highway.
– Presidential candidate Rafał Trczaskowski says these blockades are hurting the cause, but if his ruling party had done what it was supposed to do and it hadn't ruined our future, we wouldn't be here. She added, emphatically, that she would not have been there. “Protests have to be emotional and destructive because they always have been.”
At least one lane is currently empty. According to a report by Polsat News reporters, the entire blockade lasted only a few minutes, the police intervention was peaceful, and the activists did not offer any resistance.
