A rare phenomenon in Portugal’s Azores. Snow fell on islands in the Atlantic Ocean. This is quite unprecedented in this part of the world. As if that were not enough, rainfall occurred simultaneously in several locations in the nine archipelago.
Snow has appeared on the islands of Terceira, San Jorge and Pico in the heart of the archipelago, according to local weather services.
Corvo, one of the two wests to the west of the European Island, also experienced slight snowfall, according to the Portuguese LUSA agency.

Portuguese meteorologists explaining the snowfall of Azors’ “very rare phenomenon” noted that their uniqueness makes them cover several islands in the archipelago at the same time.

They noted that the only place where snow has ever appeared is the peak of Stratovurcan Pico, Portugal’s best mountain, reaching 2351m above sea level.
