A man surnamed Zhang was asleep during the night shift at the front desk of a hotel in Tibet when a large brown bear walked in and began looking for food.
While the bear was distracted, the hotel staff quietly got up and left. Photo: Weibo
Zhang was woken up by a bear walking from behind the front desk and standing next to her bed.
Instead of panicking, he waited until the bear was busy ripping open a pack of soft drinks before leaving, grabbing his cell phone along the way.
Police said they had received reports of a bear in the area, but thankfully no one was injured.
Zhang's reaction was correct: experts say it's wise not to scare or anger the bear.
Zhang told Zhengguan News Agency that he was simply shocked and didn't know how to react.

A Japanese woman from Kyoto who goes by the name Sally posted on X on August 5th that she was looking for her missing pet parrot.
She said her family accidentally left a window open in their home after letting the parrot out of its cage, causing it to fly out.
Sally initially searched the area without success, after which the story of the missing bird became strange.
It turned out the parrot had traveled alone to Tokyo on the Shinkansen.
X-user @Stroly_Map commented on her post two days later, saying that a cute parrot photographed traveling alone by train from Kyoto to Tokyo matched the description of Sally's pet.
The parrot appeared to be at ease around strangers and even hopped onto the shoulder of a train guard as he carried out his duties.
Sally contacted Tokyo police and was told her bird was safe and happy in their care.
Of course, she took the Shinkansen to pick him up on August 8th.
