CEO Michael Slupecki sees the integration of AI as a key strategy to differentiate Griswold from traditional home care providers by bridging the gap between non-medical home care and healthcare.
Griswold is leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the quality of its non-medical home care services.
“Our number one strategy has been to differentiate ourselves from traditional non-medical home care and bridge the gap between non-medical home care and healthcare,” CEO Michael Slupcki recently told McKnight's HomeCare Daily Pulse. “How can we provide tools in a non-medical setting to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations and improve our clients' ability to live longer, happier, healthier lives at home? We've been experimenting with a variety of technologies to help us do that.”
One of Griswold's latest AI innovations is its use of Sensi.AI, a voice-based monitoring device designed to detect falls, physical distress and calls for help without being as intrusive as camera surveillance. Sensi.AI operates over a simple cellular connection, making it easy to deploy and maintain.
“We've had cases where a fall occurred while outside the home and the alarm went off, which literally saved a life,” Slupczyk says. “We had left the client's home on a Friday afternoon and weren't planning on returning until Monday if the intervention alarm hadn't gone off. It's also a safety net for emergencies.”
While the rollout of Sensi.AI is still in its early stages, a pilot program has been run across 10 Griswold offices, deploying approximately 130 units, and early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Slupecki expects the successful rollout of the technology to expand to more Griswold facilities soon, as AI shows promise in filling gaps caused by the current workforce shortage and improving overall client safety.
Overall, Griswold's foray into AI with Sensi.AI marks an important step towards integrating advanced technology into non-medical home care and providing a proactive approach to customer safety and wellness. Early positive results suggest that AI could play a key role in shaping the future of home care services provided by Griswold.
