BTS Suga was recently caught up in a drunk driving controversy. While the case is still ongoing, BTS ARMYs are trending a fear-mongering challenge on social media platforms. Fans of the rapper have started the #SugaChallenge to show support for their idol, with everyone on the internet worried about the challenge participants.

What is the #SugaChallenge?
Suga was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving on Tuesday, August 6th (Korean time) after he was caught driving an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol. A breathalyzer test revealed that his blood alcohol level was 0.227%, eight times the legal limit in South Korea of 0.03%. The controversy escalated as the vehicle did not fall into the category of personal mobility device, according to the latest reports. Suga will now face criminal investigation proceedings.
As the issue has divided the internet, supporters of the K-pop celebrity have launched the #SugaChallenge, which focuses on drinking in a car, with some raising concerns about the safety of participants, as the challenge violates all traffic and safety laws regarding reckless and drunk driving.
One X user posted a picture of them drinking in a car and wrote, “Friday night #SugaChallenge let's solve this case,” while a second wrote, “Min Yoongi we are on your side #SugaChallenge,” while another wrote, “We are literally above the law #SugaChallenge.”
Other fans were against the challenge, with one user writing: “The Suga Challenge is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen!!! #SugaChallenge Go home and be alone forever. Go ahead and do it if you want,” while another wrote about the challenge: “I seriously don't get this 'joke'.”

Since the challenge was introduced, numerous posts have appeared on social media platforms where fans encourage others to drink alcohol before driving to show their support for the Osuwit singer. Several examples of the challenge were posted on microblogging platform X. While many speculate it is sarcastic, others feel it is an attempt to distract attention from the rapper's controversy. That said, given Suga's fanbase, the challenge is one that provokes and encourages reckless behavior among the masses, and the authenticity of the challenge is yet to be confirmed.
