WINNEBAGO, Neb. (KTIV) – Winnebago Integrated Healthcare System held its annual health fair Monday afternoon at Winnebago High School.
Several nearby health and wellness organizations had booths at the fair.
Students had the opportunity to speak with health experts on a variety of topics, including ATV safety, diabetes and distracted driving.
Organizers say this is all an effort to teach students the importance of being proactive when it comes to taking care of their own health and that of their families.
“Other countries are more proactive than we are. Our health care system is more reactive,” said Stormy Griffin of 12 Clans Hospital in Winnebago. “Part of our main goal is to be more proactive in prevention. We're teaching kids now how to prevent future illnesses and other problems.”
Health fair organizers say the event not only benefits students but their families as well.
