In the north of Greece, they are preparing for a lot of snow. In some areas, schools will be closed on Monday, drivers will need to use snow chains and trucks will be banned from driving.
It has been snowing in parts of Macedonia since Sunday morning, and the weather is expected to deteriorate significantly in the evening. Schools will be closed in Western Macedonia on Monday. Local governments in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and Central Macedonia can make their own decisions regarding the use of the facility, ProtoThema reports.
A lot of snow is expected in the central part of the country, especially in the mountainous regions. Heavy rains and storms are expected in western Greece.
Truck traffic will be prohibited on some roads from Sunday evening to Monday afternoon. In some areas, drivers are required to use snow chains.
Great cooling
Meteorologists also predict a significant drop in air temperature in the central and northern regions of the country up to 10 degrees. This weather will continue until Tuesday.
At the same time, on Sunday afternoon, the beaches near Athens were full of people. Enjoying the sunny and warm day, the beachgoers bathed in the sun, drank coffee, walked and played sports, and some daredevils went swimming. Thermometers showed up to 19 degrees. But from Sunday evening, the weather in the capital is also forecast. It’s raining and it’s getting colder.
