The alarm bells are ringing. MLB is aware. And it's not a good thing.
The Texas Rangers are one of the worst teams in baseball. Yes, a team that won a World Series is at the bottom of the league, so to speak.
MLB.com's latest power rankings have the Rangers ranked 22nd out of 30 teams, the lowest mark this season for Texas.
When the Rangers won the World Series last year, it didn't seem like a sudden event. They have a lot of young talent and they looked to be building a strong foundation by investing wisely in their depth. However, it should be noted that they are now eight games below .500 and if they don't get above .500 by the end of the season, their only winning season since 2016 will be last year, when they won the World Series.

This championship seems more like an anomaly than a turning point for the Rangers to be considered one of the best teams in baseball. Was Texas' title a fluke?
The Rangers still have plenty of time to make a comeback and try to win the division, which would be their best shot at making the playoffs, with a wild-card path seemingly out of reach.
The two teams the Rangers are trying to catch in the AL West are pretty high up in the standings: The Houston Astros, once considered certain to be eliminated earlier this season, are on a winning streak and in 11th place; the Seattle Mariners are in 12th place.
Among the remaining teams in the AL West, the Oakland Athletics are ranked 26th and the Los Angeles Angels are ranked 27th.
