Tuesday marks the opening day of another major championship event on the athletics calendar.
Get ready for the World U20 Championships.
The biennial event is upon us over the next five days, taking place in Lima, Peru, where some of the world's best under-20 teams will battle it out for the championship at the Estadio Atlético de la Villa Deportiva Nacional through Saturday.
Initially, the United States had not planned to send a team to Peru due to travel advisories around the world (the U.S. State Department had designated Peru a Level 2 alert, urging travelers to “exercise increased caution”), but after some backlash and consideration, the U.S. task force changed its mind and decided to send a team.
