Gurnee, Illinois – A record-breaking roller coaster is being built just a short drive away, and it will boast the steepest drop in the world.
“Wrath of Rahkshasa” is scheduled to debut at Six Flags Great America near Chicago in 2025.
Not only will it feature a 96-degree first drop, but the coaster will also have more inversions than any other dive coaster in the world.
Bolliger and Mabillard's custom-built dive coaster will be 180 feet tall and feature a cliffhanger hold that will suspend passengers straight down before dropping 171 feet at a 96-degree angle.
“Six Flags Great America continues to push the boundaries of innovation and thrills with the introduction of the world's steepest drop and most inversions of any dive coaster,” said John Kraynak, the park's president. “Rakshasa's Fury joins our already impressive lineup of record-breaking coasters and attractions and demonstrates our commitment to providing cutting-edge experiences for our guests.”
“Rakshasa's Wrath” has three trains with three rows of seven-seater seats. The length of track is 3,239 feet. The ride reaches a speed of about 67 miles per hour and has five inversions.
This will be the second record-breaking roller coaster announced for construction near Michigan in 2025.
Canada's Wonderland will open “Alpine Fury” next year, a ride that will be the longest, tallest and fastest launch coaster in Canada and feature nine inversions, the most of any launch coaster in North America.
