The Wall Street Journal is looking for an experienced, enterprising journalist to drive coverage of a Southeast Asia region brimming with stories that speak to some of the most pressing issues of our time, from great power competition to international crime, from the cost of clean energy to the future of democracy.
Shifting supply chains are creating new opportunities across Southeast Asia's vibrant economies, but demographic trends and geopolitical upheaval bring new challenges. The United States and China are competing for influence on the fringes of this strategically important region on issues ranging from military access to mineral resources. Tensions in the South China Sea have made the sea route a hotspot in global attention.
We are looking for a skilled journalist to lead this coverage from the front line – a top-notch reporter who can contribute impactful reporting herself while providing strategic direction and management to the team. The ideal candidate will have a recent track record of world-class enterprise reporting, clear strategic thinking, a solid understanding of the subject matter and leadership maturity.
This position will be based in Singapore and will report to the Asia Editor.
