Volodymyr Zelensky spoke by phone with Donald Tusk. Ukrainian leaders said new defense aid measures for Kiev and expectations related to Poland's EU presidency were discussed. Ukraine's president stressed on social media that he “looks forward to Warsaw's support in the negotiation process with the EU.”
“I had a telephone conversation with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy wrote on the internet.
“I personally express my gratitude to the Polish people, who have stood in solidarity with Ukraine since the early days of Russia's all-out invasion, and to the recent Russian shelling and Russian dictator Putin's attempts to end his political isolation. I am grateful for the principled response.” he added.
Zelenskiy said he had been informed by Tusk that Poland was preparing the 45th aid package. “The Prime Minister added that work has already begun on the next package,'' he stressed.
Mr. Zelensky spoke with Mr. Tusk. “We look forward to Warsaw’s support.”
President Zelenskiy further clarified in his post that the conversation concerned, among other things, defense cooperation and the political future of Ukraine's path to European Union membership.
“We discussed expectations regarding Poland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of next year. We look forward to future clusters.”

At the end of his message, President Zelenskiy thanked the leaders of the Polish government for supporting Ukraine's desire to join NATO and its willingness to continue providing military support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
There was information that the two politicians would meet at the end of the year. Poland has confirmed that the conversation took place.
