Everything happened in front of the city hall where the protestors tried to enter. The events in Serbia follow a construction disaster on November 1 when the concrete roof of a railway station collapsed, killing 14 people, including a child, and injuring several others. The protesters accused the authorities of negligence and demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and the mayor of Novi Sad. In turn, President Vučić accused the demonstrators of being provocateurs and warned that any acts of violence would be severely punished. However, protesters believe that Serbia's justice system, which is controlled by the government, does not guarantee full responsibility for the tragedy.
